THE REALITY OF DEMONIAL POSSESSION
He sent me ... to proclaim liberty to the captives and deliverance to the captives (Isaiah 61: 1)
Isaiah chapter 61, an extract of which is quoted below, reveals four categories of human beings on earth, namely: The unhappy, those who are broken-hearted, captives and prisoners. To those there are added the oppressed and the blind men mentioned in the context of the same prophecy by the lord jesus-christ in luc4: 18. According to these passages, all human beings can be classified in one or more of these categories. The Spirit of the Lord has come for the good news to be announced to the unfortunate, that healing be brought to those who are brokenhearted. that liberty be proclaimed to the captives and the oppressed, that deliverance be offered to prisoners, and recovery of sight to the blind. It should be emphasized that if the Spirit of God was sent on mission to bring all these things to those who suffer, it implies that their suffering can not be the will or the work of God. The unfortunate, the captives, the oppressed, the blind, the heartbroken, and the captives have been put in this state by somebody else, and the Spirit of God has come to undo the work of destruction and of misfortune which has been completed in them.Acte10: 38 confirms it well. '' You know how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with strength, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil because God was with him. '' All those whom Jesus healed or delivered during his earthly ministry (and they are several hundred thousand) were oppressed by the devil! Jesus does not express it to him when he says: "The thief comes only to steal, slaughter and destroy. I have come so that the sheep is life and have it in abundance "(jn10: 10)." The Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil "(1jn3: 8).The devil is therefore responsible for the misfortunes of all those who are oppressed. We cite some cases of demonic oppression revealed in the New Testament.
